It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out her side required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
